Stern Nite Life Programming Team
General Purpose:
Provides programming support for the Stern Student Center (SSC); including Stern NiteLife events and holiday events. Assists with the creation of a Stern NiteLife schedule, committee, and marketing. Provides operational support for the Stern Student Center (SSC).
Job Functions:
- Plan and promote student activities and events that may involve administration, faculty, and staff on campus and encourage participation from these entities in sponsored events.
- Act in a manner which supports the Stern Nite Life mission and the College of Charleston Student Code of Conduct
- Reservation of space/ venues and catering. Development of budgets for events
- Attend all SNL meetings (normally held weekly) to develop and coordinate all event plans
- Attend SNL events (100% attendance is expected, unless you are in class or have previously arranged with advisor)
- Assist in distributing marketing materials around campus and to community
- Assist in event logistics at events (setting up, tearing down, ticketing, card swiping, etc.; specific duties determined at staff meeting prior to each event)
- Promote SNL & events to all students and campus community members
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
- Ability to create and coordinate large events.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work autonomously with limited supervision.
- Ability to use human relations skills to interact with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and to exhibit a positive, helpful attitude.
- Ability to work and maintain focus in a chaotic, high-energy environment.
General Expectations:
- Must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA and be enrolled in 12 credit hours (full-time student). The only exception will be for final-semester seniors.
- Maintain satisfactory work performance; staff receiving warnings will be eligible to return pending satisfactory performance evaluations.
- Not be found in significant or repeated violations of the College of Charleston Student Code of Conduct.
- Attends student staff training, regularly scheduled staff meetings, and all Stern NiteLife events and activities.
- Demonstrates sense of dependability regarding work hours and completion of assignments/tasks.
- Appropriate dress and behavior within the Stern Student Center.
- Willingness to learn as well as flexibility and adaptability to ever-changing situations.
